Hypnotherapy and Hypnosis - a
pleasant, relaxing and an everyday experience:
Hypnosis is a naturally occurring state with a sense of deep relaxation.
It is a very pleasant and relaxing experience. When someone is in
hypnosis they are not asleep, and their senses are highly tuned with a
greater depth of awareness. It can be experienced differently by the
same person and by different people, so there is no particular ‘state’
if you like. It can also be described as a state of focused attention.
So hypnosis is a very pleasant feeling that combines relaxation with a
focus of attention or concentration. Anyone who wants to be hypnotised
can be hypnotised.
It is a myth that some people cannot be hypnotised. The only exception
is if someone is under the influence of alcohol or drugs. In fact we
all experience the state of hypnosis every day. It is very similar to
when you are daydreaming or about to fall asleep. It is that lovely
blurry state just before you fall asleep or as you are waking up first
thing in the morning. Other examples of natural hypnosis are: if you
are engrossed in reading a book, or watching a film or painting or
anything that absorbs your concentration. Anything that really absorbs
you, that takes (or grabs) your concentration and allows you to lose
yourself in it. So hypnosis is a naturally occurring psychological
process that we all experience daily.
Clinical
hypnotherapy or Suggestion hypnotherapy:
Clinical
hypnotherapy or suggestion hypnotherapy is what most people are
referring to when they talk about hypnotherapy. Clinical hypnotherapy
only takes one or two sessions and it is ideal and very effective for
the more simple problems and symptoms. It is very effective for problems
such as: stopping smoking,
losing weight, confidence boosting,
driving
test nerves, exam nerves or dentist nerves. Clinical hypnotherapy is not
recommended for the more deep seated problems. As
hypnosis induces a heightened sense of
awareness, the relaxed state of mind is more susceptible to accept
beneficial positive suggestions. Hypnosis is not in itself the cure or
the therapy, but it is simply used as an aid that allows the suggestion
or analytical therapy to take place.
How
Clinical Hypnotherapy can
help:
The
unconscious mind stores all your emotions and behaviours. Hypnotherapy
can treat many psychological problems by accessing the unconscious mind.
When you are in a relaxed state of hypnosis, carefully worded positive
suggestions are given. As you are in a relaxed state of hypnosis, these
suggestions will bypass the intellect and this will enable them to take
root in the subconscious part of the mind. When an idea or suggestion
takes root in the subconscious - the subconscious mind will express or
discharge the idea or suggestion.
Clinical hypnotherapy can be very
effective for changing maladaptive behaviours and treating anxieties.
Unlike many other therapies, Hypnotherapy is very quick to establish new
positive and beneficial behaviours, emotions and habits. Many personal
improvements and lifestyle changes can be achieved by using clinical
hypnotherapy. Clinical hypnotherapy is suitable for lifestyle changes
that have a low level of stress or anxiety and do not have any severe
underlying emotional problems.
Pure Hypnoanalysis
or Analytical Hypnotherapy:
Many
therapies aim to modify or mask the symptoms, but they do not solve the
underlying cause of the problem. Analytical hypnotherapy is unique in
this sense because it treats the root cause of the problem. Every
symptom has a root cause. Once the cause of the problem is resolved then
the symptom or symptoms will be significantly reduced
or permanently disappear. Analytical Hypnotherapy is ideal and
very effective for treating phobias, emotional and anxiety based
problems and disorders.
How Pure
Hypnoanalysis can help:
The
purpose of the therapy is to find the original cause of the problem.
It’s the principle of cause and effect - For every effect (symptom)
there has to be a cause, and analytical hypnotherapy treats the cause
rather than controlling the symptom or symptoms. The unconscious mind
stores all the emotions and behaviours, and that includes all the
bottled up emotions that are causing the more deep seated problems.
Analytical hypnotherapy can effectively treat these more deep seated
problems by accessing the unconscious mind. These bottled up emotions
are gently brought to the surface (or into consciousness) and released,
and once they are released, their reason for existing is understood and
resolved.
Analytical
hypnotherapy uses a therapeutic process called Free association to bring
these trapped emotions to the surface. Free association is simply
linking one thought to another without intellectualising. Your mind will
naturally take you back to the bottled up emotion that is at the very
root of your problem, symptom or anxiety.
Once these trapped emotions have been
released, then the unwanted behaviours or symptoms can permanently disappear or be
significantly reduced.
